External (Third-Party) MCP Servers

Allows you to connect your own third-party MCP servers (e.g. https://mcp.mdn.mozilla.net/). The AI agent will discover and use the external server's tools alongside the built-in tools.


What's supported (v1)

Supported Not supported (yet)
HTTP transport (Streamable HTTP + SSE) stdio / local-subprocess servers
Bearer token, API key, custom headers OAuth authorization flows
Per-user servers (each user manages their own) Admin-global server lists

How to use

  1. Open the AI chat panel.
  2. Click the hub button in the left toolbar.
  3. Select MCP Servers to open the management dialog.

In the dialog you can:

Headers on edit: leave the header rows empty to keep existing headers. Provide an empty object {} to clear them.


Lifecycle

Connecting hangs or errors. Use the Test button to verify the URL and headers are correct. Only HTTP transport is supported.
